The 2007 Twenty20 World Championship/World Cup will take place in South Africa. The competition gets underway on September 11th 2007 when hosts South Africa take on the West Indies in Johannesburg.

12 nations will fight it out in the inaugural twenty twenty tournament. The competing countries have been split in to 4 groups of 3 teams for the group stage with the top two from each group qualifying for the Super Eight section. In the Super Eight competition there will be 2 groups of 4 teams with the top two from each group qualifying for the semi-finals.

Unlike the 2007 Cricket World Cup, the 2007 20/20 tournament will not be a long drawn out affair. The final will be staged in Johannesburg on September 24th meaning the Twenty20 World Cup lasts for just 2 weeks.
